Kagunda Women

Empowering women to empower themselves.

We are Kagunda Women. We work together, not only to hand-sew crafts, but to empower ourselves and our children.

We have different goals: to pay for school fees, purchase seeds for our gardens and to provide food for our families during hunger season. But together, we want to make our community in Zambia a place for our families to thrive.

Educating our children and community is the focus of our efforts.  We provide scholarships and learning opportunities for youth in our village through giving our time and funds from our product sales.

Testimonials

  • With Kagunda Women, I have helped to pay my daughter’s college fees while she is training to be a teacher.  I am also paying for two young orphaned boys who live with me to go to school.

  • I love to sew and knit.  Even though I am one of the youngest members, I was chosen as a leader because of my hard work and passion to learn.  I am now training to use the computer in order to keep the books for Kagunda Women.  This year I built a house for myself and my sons, paid for my son’s school fees and bought fertilizer for my fields.

  • Since joining Kagunda Women, my husband and I have saved enough money to purchase five dairy goats.  Our goal is to save enough so that we can start a business that sells goat’s  milk and goat’s milk soap.
